Spring Reset
Finally the sunshine is here and the days are lighter and longer……
Spending time outdoors helps us to feel better, increasing positive emotions, better focus and less stress. During spring our energy levels increase naturally and we can accomplish more during our day. We know there are positive associations with exposure to greenspaces and natural landscapes. Living in the countryside or near to the coast makes it easy to access nature but don’t forget that many of our great cities have amazing spaces. London is our city and we love London. London is one of the world’s greenest cities with over 3,000 parks, commons and wooded areas.
Spring is a great time to eat healthily with the best seasonal produce available and an abundance of fibre rich plant foods. Consuming more plant fibre foods directly affects behaviour and emotions, 95% of the body’s Serotonin is produced in the gut. Serotonin does many things including influencing emotions particularly happiness, improves sleep, memory, learning and helps to regulate body temperature. Short Chain Fatty Acids, a by product of fibre (as it ferments in the gut) has been linked to a decrease in stress levels and feelings of both anxiety and depression.
