Sleep is a powerful recovery tool

Sleep is a powerful recovery tool

Sleep is essential for recovery, it should never be thought of as something that gets in the way of your life. Sleep is the body’s natural way to recover, heal and restore, both mentally and physically. Numerous studies have shown that inadequate sleep can result in more injuries, this is because sleep can affect response time when playing sports and then a reduced repair and recovery on a cellular level especially in muscle and soft tissue.

Prioritise sleep and make it the foundation of your recovery routine. Maintain a consistent sleep cycle with a regular bedtime and wake up time. It may not always be possible to go to bed at the same time, however, a consistent wake up time is essential to maintaining good sleep habits. If you do have a late night waking up at your usual time, even with less hours sleep will encourage you to go to bed the following evening at your usual time and help you to return to your consistent sleep schedule.
