A plant-based diet found to lower the risk of multi morbidity of cancer and cardiometabolic diseases

A new study involving more than 400,000 women and men aged 35-70 from 6 countries, Denmark, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands, investigated dietary habits and disease trajectories. The researchers at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), in collaboration with the University of Vienna, Austria and Kyung Hee University, South Korea, found that a plant-based diet is associated with a reduced risk of multi morbidity of cancer and cardiometabolic diseases.

The study published in the journal The Lancet Healthy Longevity found that adults with a higher adherence to a plant-based diet had a 32% lower risk of multi morbidity compared with those with a lower adherence.
