Taking a walk on the Winter Solstice has many benefits

Taking a walk on the Winter Solstice has many benefits

December 21st is the shortest day, known as the Winter Solstice. Today has the fewest hours of daylight and the longest night of the year because the Northern Hemisphere is tilted furthest away from the sun.

Of all the days in the year it might be the best day to be outdoors, grabbing as much of the natural light that is available. A winter walk has so many benefits for both our mental and physical health. Nature-Led Wellness is recognised as an important part of health and as individuals search for quick fixes and instant wellness interventions it is easy to forget that often the most simple and most natural solutions offer the most benefits.

There are numerous benefits to spending time outside, from reducing anxiety, lowering blood pressure, increasing happiness to improving sleep. Often the days we don’t feel like getting outside and going for a walk are the days we need it the most.
