Burnout is now an official medical condition

Burnout is now an official medical diagnosis according to the World Health Organization (WHO).  According to the WHO doctors can diagnose someone with burnout if they meet the following symptoms: 

Feelings of energy depletion or exhaustion  

Increased mental distance from one’s job, or feelings of negativism or cynicism related to one’s job

Reduced professional efficiency  

The WHO also advise that before diagnosing burnout doctors must rule out adjustment disorder, anxiety and other mood disorders first.
