Rapid rise of older vegans in care homes

New research from the charity Vegetarian for Life (VfL) a charity that supports older vegetarians and vegans living in both care homes and independently has found a rapid rise in vegan residents.  According to VfL there are more than 11,000 care homes for older people in the U.K with more than 7,000 vegetarian and vegan residents living in them.

The report found that the number of vegan residents has risen by 167% since 2014.  Amanda Woodvine from VfL, “It can be daunting for catering staff at care homes to plan meals, VfL has a vast amount of resources available to make this as easy as possible, there are recipes on our website for mealtimes as well as special occasions such as birthdays and barbecues.  We also offer fully funded live cooking demos from our team of roving chefs.”
