Study found participants who were overweight before the age of 40 had a much higher chance of developing cancer

A new international study from the University of Bergen, Norway found that the participants in the study that were overweight before the age of 40 had a much higher risk of developing cancer. The researchers used data from the Me-Can study of over 220,000 individuals from Norway, Sweden and Austria. Measurements were taken at least three years apart and the participants were followed for an average of 18 years.

The study found that participants that were overweight before the age of 40 had a 70% higher risk of developing endometrial cancer, a 58% higher risk of developing male renal-cell cancer, a 29% higher risk of developing male colon cancer and a 15% higher risk for all obesity related cancers in both men and women.
