New York’s Bellevue Hospital to launch new plant-based medicine program

A new medical program will begin prescribing whole-food, plant-based nutrition to patients at New York’s Bellevue Hospital.  Beginning this autumn ‘The Plant-based Lifestyle Medicine Program ‘(PBLMP)  will treat patients suffering from illnesses such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity and heart disease.

Patients will receive comprehensive medical evaluations, personalised nutrition programs and motivational support from medical staff trained in plant-based living.  Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams, who adopted a vegan diet in 2016 for health reasons said “The power of the plant-based diet has allowed me to reverse my type 2 diabetes and I’m elated that through this clinic it will do the same and more for countless New Yorkers.”
