The most deprived areas of the country have 5 times more fast food outlets

Data from Public Health England reveals the most deprived areas of England have 5 times more fast food outlets than the most affluent areas.  With 1 in 3 children overweight or obese by the age of 11, those from the poorest parts of the UK are twice as likely to be overweight.

Dr Alison Tedstone, chief nutritionist at Public Health England said, “Local authorities have the power to support people in making healthier choices.  They need to question whether these fast food hotspots are compatible with their work to help families and young children live healthier lives.”
